Foetus - Time Marches On

M.I.A. - "PAPER PLANES" cover-samples Clash - "Straight to Hell"
When I first heard this song, I thought it was an awesome mashup of M.I.A. and the clash. But it's not a mashup, this song is on her awesome album. In this video, two of beastie boys make a cameo, see if you can spot them.
I eventually listened to the Clash song "Straight to Hell" and the M.I.A. "PAPER PLANES" back to back, and realized that they did not sample the Clash, but covered the riff, so it's like a cover-sample.

Los Campesinos - You! Me! Dancing!
Here is a fun punky pop band. The video reminds me of 80's video games and Futurama in some odd way.
But what is even better, is the fan video made for this song. These girls are barefoot on a suburban driveway while there is snow on the ground. At points, like when one is lying down on the ground, I am not sure what they depicting; this weirdness makes it all the more interesting.

Von Iva
Von Iva, an all female band from San Francisco. The lead singer has an amazingly deep bluesy/soulful voice for a white girl. The song kind of cracks me up because it's someone from San Francisco singing about how Los Angles is killing someone. Typical SF vs. LA rivalry, but I don't think the song was intended to diss LA.

Vacation video of trip to Los Angeles Venice Beach, Music by Soft Tigers - Mr. Ice Cream
Our trip to LA LA land for a friends wedding. Visited Getty Museum and Venice beach. I took the videos on my Samsung SCH A990 3.2 Megapixel mobile phone. While on the vacation I was thinking about what songs I could play in the background, it was very hot, and we ate ice cream often, so I thought Soft Tigers - Ice Cream Man. Thanks to JJ at the Paste Mob blog for for turning me on to this song.

Pirate Cat Radio Now Has a Cafe Too
Pirate Cat Radio, one of my favorite online radio stations, and a favorite pirate terrestrial station at 87.9 FM in the Mission district of San Francisco, now has a cafe located at 21st and Florida. I had an excellent iced coffee there, and could look through a big glass window to see the DJ studio. I talked to Monkey who was very knowledgeable about the station, and he gave me some tips on my own internet streaming aspirations.
